Media Advisory: Dayton Christian School hires new head golf coach
DAYTON, Ohio (May 9, 2019) – Dayton Christian School announces the hiring of Matt Sharkey as the school’s next varsity golf coach.
Sharkey brings with him over five years of professional and personal golf experience. Sharkey played under Coach Wayne Beebe at Ridgeville Christian and has previously worked at Sycamore Country Club and Golf Galaxy.
“We are excited to welcome Matt to our coaching staff, and are confident that he can lead and advance our golf program in the coming years,” said Ben Shroyer, athletic director at Dayton Christian. “Matt loves the sport of golf and brings with him great knowledge and golf experience. Matt’s love for the Lord is also shown through all aspects of his life.”
Sharkey will inherit a golf program that returns eleven players from the 2018 season. Previous Head Golf Coach, Wayne Beebe, will remain on staff as a volunteer assistant coach.
“I’m honored to be the next Head Golf Coach at Dayton Christian and to be able to be involved in these kids’ lives,” stated Sharkey. “My goal is to see every golfer bring glory to Christ and to improve their game from both a mental and physical standpoint. If we can accomplish those goals, every golfer should see an improvement in their scores, all while finding true enjoyment in playing the game of golf.”
DC students and parents will have the opportunity to meet Coach Sharkey at an informational meet this coming Tuesday afternoon, May 14 at 3:15 pm in the school’s Building A Auditorium.
