The Dayton Christian Warriors (5-0, 1-0) easily won their first Metro Buckeye Conference game, beating the Yellow Springs Bulldogs (0-8, 0-4) by the score of 22-0. The Warriors collected 10 hits, stole 16 bases and were hit by 9 pitches in the game.
Sophomore pitcher Brett Gorham pitched 4 shutout innings for the win in his first career varsity start, striking out 5 batters while allowing only 2 hits. Freshman JT Melcher pitched a perfect inning of relief and also drove in 3 runs at the plate.
Junior Caleb Tomblin drove in 5 runs with 3 hits including a 2-run double and a 2-run single. Junior Isaiah Bost also drove in 5 runs, stole 3 bases and scored 4 runs. Freshman Seth Edgerton collected his first career varsity hit, scored 2 runs, and made a nice catch in centerfield to help preserve the shutout. Sophomore John Wright also got his first career varsity hit.
The Warriors return to action on Thursday with a home game against Yellow Springs at 5:30.
