The Warriors picked up their 1st win of the season in Week 3 vs. Ponitz. Sam Reid made two field goals: 37 yard and 27 yard attempts. Seth Griswold threw one touchdown pass for 23 yards to Sam Dimario & Griswold also ran for a 11-yard touchdown.
Total offensive yardage was close between the two teams: 305 yards for Ponitz and 298 yards for Dayton Christian. Passing yards favored the Panthers 147 yards to 133. Dayton Christian outrushed Ponitz 165 to 158 and also controlled the field and time of possession 28:28 to 19:32 & was favored in total number of first downs: 21 to 15. The Panthers total a few more receiving yards than the Warriors by a margin of 147-133.
Ethan Powell led the Warriors rushing attack with 65 total yards for an average of 8.1 yards per carry. Seth Griswold and Matt Batson followed with 52 yards and 42 yards each respectively.
Sam Jackson and Andrew Dreier led the receiving corps with 82 total yards between the two starting receivers.
Reid Wheeler led the Warrior defense with six total tackles, followed by Sam Jackson with 5.5 total tackles.
Sam Reid was 2 for 3 in field goal attempts.
Each team threw one interception on the night , but Ponitz mishandled the ball for three turnovers, one of which was on the goal line where they weren’t able to put points on the board!
The Warriors are at home again next week in a Saturday night contest (9/15) vs. Crestline. Kickoff is at 6:00pm. Go Warriors!
