The Middle School Baseball team came out on top against Franklin 9-8 on a cold night at DC. After giving up 2 runs in the top of the first, Chris Hodge’s lead off single was followed up by another single by Chase McCane. RBIs by both Alec Halter and Noah Wickline on ground ball outs to the right side of the infield tied the game after 1 inning. The Wildcats again put 2 runs on the board in the 2nd and took a 4-2 lead into the 3rd inning. In the bottom of the 3rd, Gavin StClair lead off the inning with a walk, followed by another single by Hodge, and a walk by McCane loaded the bases with no outs. Halter hit a line drive into left field scoring one, and Wickline hit a long fly ball to right-center for a bases-clearing triple. Arty Rand continued the rally with a line drive to Center Field scoring Wickline and giving DC 5 runs in the inning. DC added two more runs in the 4th inning when Hodge got his third hit of the night, Halter walked, and Wickline singled scoring Hodge and Halter giving the Warriors a 9-4 lead going into the later innings. Franklin would get within one run in the top of the 7th inning, but the Warriors were able to close out the victory.

Noah Wickline started on the mound for the Warriors and went 3 innings giving up 3 hits, walking 2, but striking out 9 Wildcat hitters. Arty Rand took over on the mound in the 4th inning and pitched 3 solid innings in his longest outing of the season so far. Rand struck out 4 batters and issued no walks. Alec Halter came in to close out the last inning with 2 strikeouts. The Warriors travel to Oakwood Friday night for their first game of the season against the Lumberjacks.
