The varsity track team had an excellent start to the OHSAA D3 District Championships this afternoon in Milton Union. The girls team is currently in 3rd place (15 points) and the boys team is in 9th place (5.5 points) after Day 1 of competition. Thirteen teams from the Division III Southwest District are competing at Milton Union for the District Championship! District Finals are set for Saturday, May 18 at 9:00am.
The Biggest Highlight of Day 1 Competition, was Taylor Ullrich setting a new school record in the high jump, jumping 5-01.00!! Ullrich tied the school record of 5-00, earlier in the season. The school record for the girls high jump was previously held by Beth Russell & Kilana Givens set back in 1994 and 2003. Ullrich finished 2nd in the event and is the first Warrior to qualify/advance to the Regional Track Meet next week.
Other Final Results from Day 1 of District Championships:
Girls 4×800 finished 5th (11:14), just one place from advancing to the Regional Meet.
Sophie Poindexter finished 6th in the High Jump (4-08), scoring three team points.
Ethan Powell finished 7th in the Long Jump (18-06), scoring two team points.
Bryce Shick finished 7th in the Discus Throw (107-09), scoring 2.50 team points.
Boys 4×800 relay, finished 8th overall in 9:48.
Preliminary Event Results:
Aliisa James, was 2nd in the prelims of the 100 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles to advance to Saturday’s finals.
Kayla Hooten was 3rd in the prelims of Both the 100 Dash & 200 Dash and will race in the finals on Saturday.
Ethan Powell was 5th in the prelims & advanced to the finals in the 100 Dash.
Girls 4×200 relay ran THE fastest time in the prelims & advanced to finals on Saturday.
Boys 4×200 relay ran the 3rd fastest time in the prelims & advanced to finals on Saturday.
Rhett Bailey qualified for finals in the 1600 run on Saturday with a prelim time of 5:07.
Nathan Childs qualified for finals in the 1600 run on Saturday with a prelim time of 5:02.
Girls 4×100 relay was 3rd in prelims & advances to finals on Saturday.
Boys 4×100 relay was 2nd in prelims & advances to finals.
Nylah Clements was 5th in 400 dash prelims to secure her spot in the finals.
Brianna Blake finished 4th in the 800 run prelims for a finals spot.
Caleb Blake advanced to finals in the 800 run with a 5th place prelim finish.
Nathan Childs also advanced to the finals in the 800 run.
Luke Alexander saw a 4th place prelim finish of the 200 Dash and advances to the finals.
Girls 4×400 relay ran the 2nd fastest prelim time of 4:34 with a finals spot secured on Saturday.
Boys 4×400 relay secured THE last spot into the finals on Saturday with their 8th place prelim finish, running 3:50.98.
