The boys varsity basketball team (3-7) gave the ECA Lions (9-2) all they could handle tonight in a key Metro Buckeye Conference contest.The Warriors were looking for an upset win on the road against the #2 team in the MBC, but came up short 48-41. The Warriors led at halftime 21-19 and had the game tied 29-29 at the end of the 3rd quarter. But four DC turnovers to start the 4th quarter, allowed ECA to transition quickly and hit 4-3 pointers to go ahead by twelve points with 6 minutes remaining in the contest. DC couldn’t close the double digit gap and ultimately came up short.
Six Warriors scored on the night, with Seth Griswold leading the charge with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Anton Webb pitched in 8 points, with 15 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 assists.
Devin Dreier also scored 8, Gabe Turner netted 6, Bryce Shick had 4, and Jon Welker with 3 points. The Warriors were 16-38 (42%) from the court, but struggled from the charity stripe missing six crucial free throws (5-11 for 45%).
The Warriors next game is tomorrow night, Jan. 12 at Tipp City Bethel. Game time is 7:30pm. Go Warriors!
