The Warriors varsity baseball team (10-0) hosted cross-town rival Carlisle on Monday night at Honaker Field. The Warriors were looking for their 11th win of the season, but Carlisle (5-3) proved to be a formidable opponent. Dayton Christian broke out to a strong 5-0 lead after the first inning, but Carlisle chipped away at the score over the next two innings. By the end of the third, the score was tied 5-5. From there it was a very tight back and forth contest, until Carlisle found a way to put six runs on the board in the sixth inning which proved to be the difference maker. Carlisle won 14-9, giving the Warriors their first defeat of the season.
Naaman Anderkin, Caleb Tomblin, and Luke Carnegis each drove in two RBI’s for the team. Anderkin started on the mound for the Warriors, striking out three, over three innings pitched. Nate Scanlon pitched 2.1 innings with a strikeout. Carnegis and Isaac Scanlon came in on relief.
