The varsity track team finished Day 1 of competition at the OHSAA D3 Regional Track & Field Championships in Troy. Day 1 consisted of pre-lims in most of the running events and contested a few field event finals. The Warriors did not score any team points during Day 1 competition.
Taylor Ullrich finished 9th in the high jump final, jumping 5-00. The top four finishers advanced to the state meet in Columbus. Ullrich was two inches away from a state qualifying jump.
Aliisa James finished 15th out of 16 runners in the 100 hurdle prelims. The top 8 prelim times advance to Friday’s final, where the top 4 finalists will then advance to the state meet.
Girls 4×200 relay finished 13th of 15 teams in the prelims. Boys 4×200 relay was 16th in the prelims and was five seconds away from qualifying for the 4×200 finals on Friday.
Boys 4×100 relay finished 14th and the Girls 4×100 finished 15th in their respective prelim races.
Luke Alexander was 14th in the prelims of the 200 dash, running 24.07. 23.11 was the last qualifying time to advance to the 200 finals on Friday.
Girls 4×400 relay was 15th, running, 4:39.84.
Aliisa James will run on Friday in the finals of the 300 Hurdles. After a snafu during the 300 Hurdle prelims, all runners (in both prelim heats) will re-race on Friday in a timed final. The top four runners from either of those two heats of the 300H on Friday will advance to the state championship meet next week.
Day 2 of regional competition is Friday, May 24 again in Troy. Running events begin at 6:30pm. Go Warriors!
