Warriors used aggressive baserunning in the top of the 7th to pull out a 5-4 win on the road against Div 2 opponent Eaton. Dylan Bower (Player of the Game) started the inning with a soft roller up the 1st base line which he beat out for an infield single. With one out, Sam Jackson advanced Bower to second on a ground out. With two outs, Andrew Dreier hit a hard ground ball to second who could not handle it & was able to beat the throw. Dreier stole second base & when the throw sailed into centerfield, Bower was able to scramble home for the go ahead run. Bower recorded a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 7th to gain the win.
Three Warrior pitchers (Caddy, Dillhoff & Bower) combined to limit Eaton to 4 runs on 4 hits despite the defense committing three errors. Bower shut down Eaton over the last 2-1/3 innings of baseball.
Dylan Bower (1 RBI) and Andrew Dreier (2 RBI) both collected two hits to lead the Warriors offensively.
The Warriors are back in action on Monday against defending Division II State champion Chaminade Julienne. Please check out further analysis, player of the game interview, and Coach’s Corner on the DC baseball Twitter feed (@WarriorsDCBB).
